Alden Terrace School Fifth and Sixth Graders Celebrate International Dot Day in STEAM

Alden Terrace School’s fifth and sixth grade scholars are making their mark one dot at a time. They joined the global celebration of Dot Day during a recent STEAM lesson with Samantha Fasano. Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ beloved children’s book “The Dot,” International Dot Day invites students around the world to “make their mark” and embrace the power of creativity.
Equipped with paint pens, dot stickers, pom-poms, pipe cleaners and an array of colorful craft supplies, the students transformed simple paper plates into bold, original works of art. From abstract designs to florals, each creation reflected their unique vision and creativity.
To wrap up the lesson, the class came together to discuss the significance of the dot and how a single mark can spark innovation, exploration and connection across all areas of STEAM.
