Federal Stimulus (ARP-ESSER and CRRSA)

During monthly Principal Community Zoom meetings, the administration will continue to engage stakeholders throughout the implementation of our plan.  Please feel free to ask building administration questions related to any program related to the Federal Stimulus funds.

 

Special “Pandemic Related” Aid Funding

  • States are allocated federal funding under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act.
  • Schools need to apply for these funds, which are not part of the general budget.
  • Funding covers expenses from March 2020 through September 2023

 

Eligible ARP Expenses

ARP provides categories for eligible non-recurring expenses in the following areas:

  • Safely returning students to in-person learning.
  • Maximizing in-person instruction time.
  • Operating schools and meeting needs of students.
  • Purchasing educational technology.
  • Addressing the impact of the pandemic on low-income students, students with disabilities, English language learners, and homeless students.
  • Meeting social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs of students.
  • Offering summer, afterschool, and other extended learning programs.
  • Supporting early childhood education.

 

Elmont Union Free School District - ARP and CRRSA Funding Overview

  • ARP Total Allocation = $ 6,675,743
  • Summer Enrichment Programs - $345,560
  • After School Programs - $345,560
  • Learning Loss - $1,727,751
  • CRRSA Total Allocation = $3,172,650
  • These funds cover eligible expenses from March 2020 through September 2023.

 

Potential Use of Funds by Area

Addressing Learning Loss

  • Provided a fully operational Virtual Academy for 2020-2021
  • Expand after-school club offerings
  • Expand our Saturday Academy program
  • Expand the Science Research Program to all six buildings
  • Expand the 2021 Summer Acceleration Program to include both in-person and virtual options
  • Introduce six instructional coaches to provide support and professional development to faculty district-wide
  • Introduce Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading libraries to accelerate literacy development in all buildings
  • IXL Digital Math Platform
  • iReady digital curriculum for students with disabilities
  • New Reading, Writing and Math Curriculum

 

Operating Schools

  • Purchase of personal protective equipment, sanitizing and disinfecting materials
  • Additional security guard positions to assist with the safe arrival and dismissal of students as well as supervising increased use of outdoor spaces
  • Hire additional building substitutes to address the need for additional supervision of students
  • Upgrade district-wide security with camera installations and key card access to individual buildings
  • Establish a parent-teacher learning lab in the PPS building

 

Addressing the Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs of our Students

  • An additional school guidance counselor and social worker will be added to address the social, emotional, and counseling needs of our students returning to in-person instruction
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Professional Development provided by April Francis-Taylor and Eastern-Suffolk BOCES DEI Development and Support Program
  • DEI Text Collection – additional classroom text collections will be added to supplement the text associated with the district-wide Inclusive Community Read Program
