Clara H. Carlson School recently hosted a curriculum and performing arts showcase to celebrate the community’s diversity and share its scholars’ unique talents. Families in each grade level participated in a special activity or enjoyed a performance during the event.
Pre-K classes invited their families to enjoy a story and a craft, while kindergartners, first graders and second graders performed in three separate concerts, sharing songs of kindness, friendship and inclusivity. Third grade scholars displayed their newfound math skills with an in-class math graphing activity. Fourth grade classes hosted an “Are You Smarter Than a Fourth Grader” game, which featured questions on the Elmont community as well as famous Black and Hispanic figures. Fifth and sixth grade scholars prepared cultural poetry, reading aloud their self-portrait and acrostic poems.
The activities throughout the building gave families a meaningful glimpse into what their children have been learning, while also highlighting the school’s dedication to celebrating student success and individuality.
